I’m Rachel Neurohr, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Washington University. I currently see clients in Washington, DC, and the state of Maryland.

Who Can Benefit from Counseling Work with Me? I support teens and adults navigating many mental health challenges and stressors, including:

Trauma (loss, abuse, assault, neglect, systemic oppression, poverty,

family conflict, etc.)

Anxiety, depression, and mood disorders

Major life transitions (e.g., new jobs, academic changes, gaining

independence through adolescence and young adulthood)

Interpersonal and relationship stress

Having more than one mental health diagnosis

Chronic illness and the overlap of medical/mental health issues

Substance use and recovery (harm reduction or abstinence-based)

Court-mandated treatment

Gender and sexuality exploration

We also are living through a time in our country and on our planet that is scary for many people, and if you need to process those wider environmental and social stressors in a nonjudgmental space, I am here to support you.

If you’re experiencing more severe symptoms, like seeing or hearing things that may not be there, or times where you feel separate from your body or time passes without your having conscious awareness of it, I can help you explore what is happening and what support you may need.

My Approach to Counseling. My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and culturally affirming, drawing from CBT, ACT, person-centered, and existential frameworks. I am a straight, cis woman and an LGBTQ+ ally. I also often work with under-resourced folks in DC who are looking not just for therapy but for practical resources around housing, food, education,employment, and other fundamental living needs.

Why therapy? Think of therapy like car maintenance. Not everyone needs it all the time, but everyone could benefit from it some of the time. If we ignore our “Check Engine” light flashing, things only get worse and break down. We are all experts of our own lives, and therapy can provide processing time, perspective, tools, and support to help you feel more grounded, capable, and content.
